eth and Zoe started Teknik in 1999 with a bucket, a stick and a thousand dollars. They were working full time as routesetters and climbing coaches, and put as much of their earnings as they could into growing their little business from the ground up. After 3 years of working at it, they were able to focus their time entirely on Teknik.

Every Teknik hold has been imagined, carved, molded, poured, sanded, packaged, shipped and invoiced by Zoe or Seth. They’ve also been responsible for every photo, all the editorial and all the artwork in the Teknik world. Aaron (Seth’s older bro) bought into the Teknik vision early. For the occasional RAM upgrade he’s been weaving websites, advertisements, catalogues and creating computer-based tools for our peeps since day one. We’re a busy team!

Teknik has grown from an idea into a major player in the climbing hold world.

The principal reason is because of our outstanding product;the shapes, the texture, the color, the imagination.This has caused more than a few routesetters to fall in love with Teknik. We’ve now been able to combine these elements with our new hold material, a urethane blended specifically for us. We call it “ultrathane”. It is ultra strong, light, bright, and the texture is still the best. Teknik keeps leveling up.

Despite being a micro business, Teknik is still a dedicated supporter of competition climbing all across North America. Teknik’s competitive team ‘Team Teknik’ has won a PCA team season, and Team members have won comps at National and International levels. Team Teknik has also traveled to Japan for a pro gym tour.

Teknik holds are all over the world, from the wee-est home walls to the biggest public gyms. Help us in our conquest of the planet!
