December 2003

Seth and Zoe drove down to Boulder CO in November with Alex and Chris for the PCA Boulder Brawl. The roads were snowy and icy, but that didn't hold us back. We even made a stop in Calgary to swing by Nels' sister Natasha's hair salon for haircuts.

We arrived in Boulder a day early, so we had some time to go visit our old friend Verve. We helped him design a special surprise for Nels to wear at the after party.

Verve came by our hotel room later that evening with a video to get all us Canadians psyched for the comp the next day.

At the comp, everyone climbed really well. Alex, Chris, Nevin and Stacey all put in solid efforts, Alex with a new P.B.! Zoe grabbed a few holds but was injured. And Seth went mental and levelled up. Nels crushed the field handily and won himself another PCA. How to go!

The after party at the hotel was fun. Nels got his party pants, and everyone had a great time.

Nevin left the next morning for Argentina. We recently got some photos from him. The pictures are of him hunting alligators...of course.

November 2003

Nels came to Edmonton for the weekend to train with Seth "Whitepuma" Mason. The PCA is coming up in Boulder Colorado on November 7th and 8th, and it's time to get serious.

The men warmed up the weekend by doing a little shopping to get the cardio going. Then they checked out Wilf Kozub's (Zoe's dad) artshow for a little mental training. After all that tiring shopping and walking around, they stopped for a nutrition break before heading to the climbing wall.

Climbing went very well. Motivation was high, and lots of great problems were made. Nels finished off the session with a little rope ladder.

Zoe unfortunately had to sit out with a crappy ankle. She's still recovering from surgery (arthoscopic debridement), and will be on the physio tip for a while still. She's registered to "compete" at the PCA, but will only be climbing the first few low moves of each problem (for those valuable overall tour season points).

We're all totally pschyed and can't wait for the comp. It'll be worth the two day drive for sure!

August 2003

Photo: Jansen Gunderson/PCAThe Teknik team was at the PCA season 3 Summer Showdown. Everyone put in a good effort against a really stiff field, and Nels won! Way to go Nellie, that's a big win!

The Teknik Team did well with a 3rd place finish in the Triple Team event.

Must've been all the Teknik holds up on the walls...

The 1st Teknik pro-model hold also made it's first appearance: the NKR1 carved by pro climber Nels Kristoff Rosaasen himself. (It got used in every round, including the Final Men's problem that Nels flashed to win the comp!). The new Teknik Pinchtite also made it's glorious debut and was used in every round too.

More info on the PCA site or on Climbing.com:

August 2003

Teknik is sponsoring the PCA Season 3 opener in SLC August 14-16. Teknik has two teams entered in the "Triple Team" event. We've got Nels Rosaasen, Zoe Kozub, and Seth Mason on one team. And we've got Nevin Rosaasen, Stacey Weldon, and Alex Faid on the other. Wish 'em giver!

Team Teknik has been training pretty hard for this comp, check out the pix!

Please note: When you look at these photos and read the titles, do so with an Arnold Schwarzenegger accent.

July 2003

Teknik threw Timy Fairfield a box of holds to set with at the Gorge Games. He must've used a couple of them, because our boy Nellie won (against a stacked field)! Wow, nice one buddy.
